Kratingdaeng is the brand name of a NON carbonated soft drink. Sold as an energy drink and to combat mental tiredness, it is very high in sugar, and also contains taurine, glucuronolactone, B-complex vitamins and caffeine (one Can/Bottle of Kratingdaeng contains 0.53/0.80 mg of caffeine, as much as one cup of coffee). It is popular as a mixer, notably with vodka.
Kratingdaeng is exclusively produced in Thailand and exported worldwide,as far as internal distribution agreement allows. The drink is available in over 30 countries and almost 1,000 million of the beautyfully designed 150ml Bottles were sold in 2003, 260 million of them in Canada and Asia.
The drink was created by Chaleo Yoovidhaya.In 1978 he established "TC Pharmaceutical Industries Co Ltd" to produce and sell Kratingdaeng/..aka later ,,, Red Bull. He spend lots of money in advertisment and gave Kratingdaeng to people to taste for free at the beginning. His product became very popular among people, especially laborers,and people in need of a daily pep-drink.The Thai beverage KratingDaeng was expanded in 1984 with the sister company Red Bull Gmbh Austria. ,TC Pharmaceutical Industries Co Ltd owns 51% stake in this company also .
Today TC Pharmaceutical Industries Co,. Ltd produces a full product lineup with there Kratingdaeng energy drinks,Kratingdaeng Cola,Kratingdaeng Ice-coffee,Sponsor electolyte beverage .etc..etc....
For Those who don't know what "Kratingdaeng" means in Thai lanquage ---when translated into english,we can inform ,that the direct translation means "RED BULL"
Further to this, we might add, that the famours "logo" (Two red Bulls against the yellow sun ) was invented by Mr. Chaleo Yoovidhaya himself,right from the beginning of TC Pharmaceutical Industries Co., Ltd
