Bilwinco launches high-speed food weigher

The new weigher, type BW128W, has been specially designed for the wet food industry and for complex and flexible integration between weigher and horizontal packaging machines such as thermo-forming machines and tray sealers.
It also conforms to the growing trend towards greater flexibility in the workplace. Plant managers are increasingly looking to better utilise production facilities by adopting more changeovers, and this has increased the requirements for quick and efficient cleaning. Bilwinco says that as a result, it has further developed its hygiene concept to meet these challenges.
Bilwinco uses the direct weighing principle, which means that load cells and activation mechanisms are located outside the weigher body. The components are rated to IP67 – consequently, they are completely waterproof and withstand high-pressure hosing.
The company claims that one of the great advantages of outside location of components is the avoidance of gaskets in the "body" that keeps all water-sensitive electronics. To make cleaning even easier, the vibratory coil is located inside the body; and magnetism between coil and armature works through the stainless steel wall.
For cleaning, the vibratory chutes and the springs are dismantled as one unit, and the "body" is left bare. It can now be cleaned efficiently and washed down completely with high-pressure water very quickly.
Bilwinco claims that this makes the weigher satisfy much higher cleaning requirements than any other multihead weigher currently on the market. The control unit of the multihead weigher is supplied with an IP65 touch screen with Ethernet interface.
Versatility is another important consideration in modern food production. Bilwinco says that its BW128W is a very compact unit, and can be supplied on a mobile height adjustable support frame for optimal utilisation of its qualities in different packaging lines and with several packaging machines.
This, says the company, provides food producers with a very versatile weighing and packaging process. Mobility also means quick and efficient cleaning. The weigher can be completely removed from the process line in order to clean the weigher and the packaging machine separately.
Flexibility has been further strengthened as the machine can be used for mix production or for filling into two or more lanes using two outlets.
The BW128W is a 28-head weigher with a bucket volume of 0.5litres. Capacity has been further strengthened as the weigher is now synchronised at its optimum with the packing equipment – and customised precisely to the chosen application. This, says Bilwinco, ensures a considerable better product and packaging flow that determines the utilisation of the weigher's high performance.
