Sidel to launch new generation at Interpack

The company says that the new range has been designed not only to achieve top performance and reliability of blowing machines, but also to offer a full-blown bottle solution development programme specifically targeted at high-speed applications.
As a result the new SBO 20 range offers cutting edge solutions for plastic bottles produced at very high speeds that range from 0.25l to 3l in size.
The streamlined design of the new range has cut format changeover times by 20 per cent compared with the Series2 range. This new generation is a response to changes in the marketplace where just-in-time production, shorter production cycles, increased numbers of products and a wide variety of sizes, along with more complex packages are all becoming commonplace.
In addition to faster changeovers, Sidel claims that the new blowing machine range requires 25 per cent less time for maintenance, which further extends operating times.
The new generation of Sidel blowing machines will make their global début at the Interpack trade fair. Format changeovers and applications will be demonstrated at the show.
In addition, Sidel will be unveiling eight new filling technologies for liquid food applications. The display will feature a preview of the FMw flowmeter filling machine, equipped with 50 rinsing nozzles, 60 filling valves, and 15 capping heads.
Sidel claims that this machine is built to meet the toughest hygiene standards required for packaging still water.
The GW gravimetric filler, designed for filling oil and sauces, will also be on display. The firm claims that its accurate filling technology guarantees a standard deviation of less than 0.5g. The model exhibited has 30 filling valves and 10 capping heads.
New high-speed shrinkwrappers will also be on display at Interpack 2005. Two high-speed shrinkwrappers without sealing bars will be exhibited one of which, the TS Evolution 3 shrinkwrapper without sealing bar, offers output rates of up to 60,000 bottles/hour. Sidel says that this machine is ideally suited to markets such as soft drinks, beer, mineral water, and cans. The second shrinkwrapper is the all-stainless-steel TSi shrinkwrapper without sealing bar designed for drink boxes and small bottles. This can reach speeds of 24,000 to 36,000 bottles/hour even in 2x2 formats.
Finally, to maximize productivity and operating time on packaging lines, Sidel is presenting its new remote services designed to analyse equipment and get it up and running. These services complement Sidel’s EIT (Efficiency Improvement Tool) software that diagnoses and analyses equipment production and performance to help maximise overall line performance.
